1985
A prominent mortgage banker and industry veteran Clem Gimbert forms Gimbert Associates to provide mortgage banking services to a select group of local real estate entities.
2001
Gimbert Associates merges with the capital markets team from H.G. Smithy (formerly Smithy Braedon), one of the most highly regarded commercial real estate firms in the Washington DC region. The merger of these two groups more than doubles the size of Gimbert Associates and dramatically expands its services and capabilities.
2017
Gimbert Associates, LLC becomes Gimbert Realty Capital. In continuing its mission to serve commercial real estate owners, the firm broadens its capital sources, expands its offerings to the market, and relaunches under a new brand.

Steve began his career in real estate finance in 1983 with Principal Mutual Life in Des Moines, Iowa. There he was in charge of mortgage opportunities in the Mid-Atlantic. Before forming Gimbert Associates LLC, Steve was a Managing Director in the Mortgage Banking and Commercial Finance Group of the H.G. Smithy Company in Fairfax, Virginia. He started in the mortgage banking and commercial finance field in 1987, joining the Carey Winston Company of Chevy Chase, Maryland.
Steve has BBA degrees in Finance and Real Estate & Urban Land Economics from the University of Wisconsin. He is also active with the Mortgage Bankers Association of Metropolitan Washington, serving as its President in 2006 and as a member of the Board of Governors from 2000-2007 and 2010. He has been a member of its Commercial Real Estate Finance Council since 1998. Steve is also a supporter of the Washington, DC-based affordable housing group, Manna, Inc., and has served on its Leadership Committee since 2003.

Prior to Gimbert Associates, Pat worked in commercial real estate finance with the H.G. Smithy Company/Smithy Braedon. He has financed/sold more than $1 billion worth of commercial properties. Completed deal structures have included construction loans, participating loans, joint ventures, wrap loans, and first and second mortgages for all types of properties. Pat is a licensed real estate broker in the District of Columbia, Maryland, North Carolina, and Virginia.
Pat holds a B.S. degree from Washington and Lee University and an MBA degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He served as an officer in the U. S. Army. Pat is married with two children.

Phil has over 30 years of experience in commercial real estate finance and investment with a demonstrated record of accomplishment in mortgage banking, underwriting, acquisitions, dispositions, and asset management. In his career, Phil has held responsible positions with G.E. Capital, Travelers Insurance Company, Allied Capital, MGP Real Estate, Carey Winston, and Encompass Real Estate Advisors. He is qualified as an expert witness on capital markets and commercial real estate underwriting in U.S. Federal District Court. He is a member of the advisory board and investment committee of Hamilton Real Estate Fund, which specializes in the acquisition of distressed commercial real estate debt and REO.
Phil is a past president of the Mortgage Bankers Association of Metropolitan Washington, DC (2002) and is a licensed commercial real estate broker in Maryland and California. He is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, and in 2012 obtained a Masters Degree in Natural Resources from Virginia Tech University with an emphasis on financing infrastructure, energy conservation, and sustainable investments. Phil is married with two daughters.

A 2nd generation Commercial Real Estate Mortgage Banker & Broker, 2024 marks Tracy’s 35th year in the industry. Tracy has worked at all levels of the commercial mortgage finance industry from entry-level underwriter to overseeing company operations for top CREF firms.
A talented problem-solver, negotiator and overall professional, Tracy has extensive experience in all property types, all loan structures, all lender categories and has a particular familiarity with the primary markets and submarkets located in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. A former member of the Board of Governors of the Mortgage Bankers Association, Tracy has acted as a senior loan arranger for firms such as Republic Mortgage, The Ivor B. Clark Co., GMAC Capital, and MCB Finance.
Tracy enjoys a well-deserved reputation for effectiveness, integrity and expertise in the eyes of both Lenders and Borrowers, large and small. Tracy’s total career placements to date add up to approximately 1.25 Billion involving nearly 1,000 properties.

Kathy joined Gimbert Realty Capital in 2018 with decades of commercial mortgage banking experience. Within a few years of beginning her career in banking, Kathy opened her own commercial mortgage banking firm. She sold the firm in 2002 to start a multifamily-residential development company. After successfully completing several projects, she returned to mortgage banking, working with Key Bank Real Estate Capital, an FNMA-Freddie Mac lender, and later opened the Carolina regional mortgage banking division for BNC Bank/Pinnacle Financial Partners before joining Gimbert Realty Capital.
Kathy is a licensed real estate broker in North Carolina and Florida, and she earned her Bachelor of Science and MBA from the University of Colorado. She is a CCIM candidate and was awarded the “Push the Pin” Scholarship in 2011. She currently lives in North Carolina and assists clients nationwide.

Chad has over 20 years of experience in originating, underwriting, and structuring commercial real estate financing for income-producing properties. Before rejoining Gimbert Realty Capital, Chad served as Director at Orix Real Estate Capital focusing on multifamily loans. Earlier in his career, he held senior underwriting and origination positions at regional banks, global real estate services firms, and the GSEs.
Chad holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Real Estate and a Master of Science in Finance, Investments, and Banking from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
